Cities of Iceland
 
Iceland has only been populated for 1100 years, by descendants of Nordic and Celtic settlers. The country has a huge resource of hydropower and geothermal energy. The cities are widely spread out along the coastline and is sparsely populated, with a big concentration in a few big cities.
Reykjavik
The capital of Iceland. Few minutes drive from Reykjavik you’ll find the Blue Lagoon (photo), absolutely worth the visit. In the year 2000 the city was awarded with the title European City of Culture.

Akureyri
Lying far north on Iceland, Akureyri has a stable weather and it lies only 60 km south of the arctic circle. It’s the second largest city on Iceland.
